Thunderings from DHHS

Congratulations to Students of the Month for April: Cassidy Jones (sophomore), Justin Gooch (junior) and Dayci Patterson (senior). Congratulations also to our three winners and runners-up at Region Sterling Scholar competition on April 8: Our region winners were Dayci Patterson in Visual Arts, Kyle Carter in Computer Science and Jessalyn Wood in Foreign Language. These students have the honor of being Desert Hills’ first Sterling Scholar Region winners. Runners-up were: Skyler Almquist in Mathematics, Claudia Oliva in Dance and Brady Johnson in Business and Marketing. Thank you to all our school Sterling Scholars and to Karen Lowe, Sterling Scholar advisor. We begin another tradition this year with elections for student Executive Council. Candidates have divided into two parties, the Black and Gold parties, and will campaign together for their party’s nominees. An election assembly will take place on Friday. Drama will be competing in state competition Friday and Saturday, and our choir will be performing tonight at the Region Choir Festival at Pine View High. DHHS music students performed and attended workshops at Disneyland April 7-11. A reminder that grade night final payment is due tomorrow, April 15. End of level state testing begins this week and continues into May.
