Thunderings from DHHS

The third quarter is off and running! On Jan. 2, DHHS Culinary Arts students catered their first wedding, preparing, setting-up and serving 400 meatballs, tuxedo pasta salad, fresh donuts, snowflake sugar cookies, green salad, and artichoke dip for more than 200 wedding guests. On Wednesday, Jan. 13, ninth graders from DHMS visited our campus for sophomore orientation and registration (see accompanying photo). The ninth graders learned about curricular and extra-curricular opportunities at DHHS and took a tour of the school. On Friday, selected choir students will travel to Salt Lake City to audition for the State Honor Choir. Congratulations to sophomore clarinetist Josh Kaneversky and junior violinist Katrien Jack, who qualified for All-State Band and Orchestra. Our winter sports teams continue to show their “Thunder,” taking wins in swimming, wrestling and basketball. Check the DHHS online calendar for game times and support the teams. We encourage parents to keep up to date on their student’s progress and check Power School regularly throughout the quarter. Feb. 2-4 is UBSCT testing for sophomores: Please make sure your student is rested, prepared and in attendance those days. Three parent positions are open for election to the Community Council, with meetings beginning in April. Contact the school office for more information.

When you are choosing a school to study food courses at, knowing what to look for in culinary arts schools means that you will make the right choice the first time.. Generally in culinary Arts students prepare food for such occasions and participate in competition. This helps them to see the reaction of others.
