Our debate team stepped into the spotlight at the Dixie High Tournament last weekend, with Celeste Reese placing third in varsity oration, Christian Larsen taking second in novice oration, Arianna Curlis placing fifth in novice dramatic interpretation, and Julianna Hummel scoring first place in novice humorous. Their next tournament is Oct. 22-23 at Foothill High in Las Vegas. Please contact debate coach Mr. Eaton if you can volunteer to help judge.
Seniors who haven’t taken the ACT should register to take the test this fall. Juniors should take the college admissions test before their senior year. Go to actstudent.org to register. The English department will offer a two-session ACT test-preparation before and after school prior to each test date, beginning Oct. 19-22. Sessions are $5 each. Contact the office for more information.
Math Enhancement is available during lunch, Wednesday – Friday.
Students in Marcee Christensen's Child Development class are creating PowerPoint safety presentations. Mrs. Neville's English seniors have finished their study of The Canterbury Tales and are now writing 22 lines of rhyming couplets about a personal pilgrimage they would take. Creative Writing students are writing print and video advertisements for imaginary new products. Mrs. Johnson's Culinary Arts students prepared and catered a delicious multi-course luncheon for the faculty earlier this month.
