Thunderings from DHHS



Our Computer Programming II students came away with the grand prize at an intensive three-day “Code Camp,” where they were the only high school students competing against local businesses and college programming students. Our students were invited to attend when the St. George economic development department, which hosted the event, learned of IT teacher Linda Brown’s students’ robotics programming. Congratulations!

Congratulations also to our boys golf team, who took second at the State 3A tournament. DHHS football battles in quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 6, 1-4 p.m.
Our debate team performed admirably in their tournament at Foothill High in Las Vegas. Julianna Hummel placed first in humorous interpretation, and Megan Tholen placed sixth in dramatic interpretation. Their next tournament is Nov. 6 at Virgin Valley, Mesquite.

Desert Hills basketball players and coaches will lead Wednesday evening fundamentals and Saturday morning games in Jr. Thunder Basketball Instructional League during November and December for boys and girls in grades 3-8. Registration is $40 after Oct. 22 Contact Coach Allred. Registration forms are available in the main office.

Congratulations to Students of the Month Alexa Suwyn, senior; Nicole Winona, junior; and Whitni Atkin, sophomore.

Parent-teacher conferences are Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 3-4, 4-7 p.m.
